Given an existing assay definition, a scientist chooses to clone it, which creates a temporary copy of that assay definition and presents the scientist with a screen allowing them to edit the temporary copy. When the scientist has finished editing the copy (adding, deleting, changing context items etc.) they save the work which becomes a new assay definition
